5 Golden Rules of the Litter Box

Litter box problems are a common issue most cat owners have to deal with at least once in their cat’s life. Most of the behavioral problems cat have seem like they are centered it, which is why you should follow these rules.

Rule #1: Always place your litter box in a quite area of the house. Many people place litter boxes next to noisy washing and drying machines and then wonder why their cat refuses to use it.

Rule #2: Please clean your litter box on a regular basis, if not daily. Most people do not clean their litter boxes regularly enough. They should wash it with soap and warm water on a monthly basis.

Rule #3: Always be sure to have one more litter box than the number of cats you have. If you have three cats, then try and have 4 litter boxes in the house. This may seem like a lot but cats need privacy and like their territory.

Rule #4: Avoid automatic litter boxes. These boxes can make a lot of noise, even the ones that are on time delay. This noise can easily scare cats off, and in the end you wasted a lot of money.

Rule #5: Buy a bigger litter box: Most of the litter boxes you see in grocery stores are way too small for adult size cats. Go to the pet stores and buy a nice big one.
